Sapphire and Steel
The whole fucking lot on YouTube. Sitting at home manfully bearing the weight of a horrific cold and drinking tea and watching this.

Fuck me, i'd forgotten how scary this was, especially for a 8 year old! Stands up well for 35 years old, must be due a 2015 film, surely?! Great premise.

Lumley looks fucking lovely, too.

Re: Sapphire and Steel
Yeah, he's in his 80's now. Great looking, has to be said, he appeared on the One show a couple of years when he was about 80 and still looked good.

At the beginning of S&S he was 46, some people just have the genes I guess. Not me, sadly!

Re: Sapphire and Steel
Nice line! You may well be right, thinking about it, re NCIS.

Had no idea he was that old in S&S. Just looked it up and he was already in his early 30's when he made the Man From UNCLE.

Should be remade sounds like a brilliant premise anything to do with aliens and time travel is a winner!

Re: Sapphire and Steel
He's probably just as famous for NCIS these days. There is an episode where one of the characters says to another "what did Ducky (McCallum's character) look like as a young man" to which the response was "Illya Kuryakin"

Hats of to a fine looking man though, S&S only ran for three years and in the last episode he was a few months short of 50.

Re: Sapphire and Steel
He's most famous for playing Illya Kuryakin in the Man from UNCLE.

He's in a killer episode of The Outer Limits called "The Form of Things to Come", was in the Colditz series etc etc. Starred in some classic films too, The Great Escape, Mosquito Squadron, etc.

Re: Sapphire and Steel
He was also the invisible man! The best one from the 70's with invisible flares!

He did that about 5 years before S&S

That's where I knew him from....he's in NCIS now but I knew I recognised him from somewhere else.

Re: Sapphire and Steel
Fucking hell. These are fucking scary! I'm on episode 2 now, the derelict train station one:

'Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and smile, smile, smile.'

Fucking chilling. On the DVD box set you can buy (no point now they're all on YouTube) it says all these are fucking PG!!! PG, fuck that, no wonder at 8 I used to shit myself.

I've turned all the lights on, you know, just in case.

Yes that's the first one mate. Great viewing tucked up on sofa with kleenex strewn across the room.

Normally only do that after logging on to Captain Stabbin'

Re: Sapphire and Steel
One episode (might have been the 1st one), they sung "Ring a ring of roses" and something happened after, cant remember what exactly but it freaked me right out.

Still cant stand that song because of the program. I am 43 - sad :-(

Re: Sapphire and Steel
Loved it at the time, and it still holds up.

I stood next to David McCallum on the circle line once, back in the eighties. He got off at Sth. Ken. Not much of a story, but there you go.

Yes mate, i'm 1972 vintage, think this was around our cup final win? I would google it if I could be arsed.

Top telly though, done now it would be fucking cracking.

Could you imagine ITV doing something this original and creative these fucking days?!
